Laffing Sal is an automaton located at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. In essence, Sal is a robot that laughs maniacally — that's it. The accompanying plaque insinuates that such oddities were common in the early days of amusement parks, and says that park staff purchased the automaton from the Funland PlayHouse in San Francisco.
